Seit 2019 ist das Freie Radio Freistadt als Einsatzstelle für das Freiwillige Umweltjahr anerkannt. Von September 2019 bis August 2020 verstärkte Magdalena Horn als Klimaredakteurin das FRF-Team, seit September 2020 führt Bernhard Schwab die Sendereihe im Rahmen seines Zivildienstes fort.
